it’s ‘Prairie Home Companion’ week!
So guess how I spent my Sunday afternoon? Are you sitting down? I met Kevin Kline, Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Virginia Madsen, and Garrison Keillor at a press event for A Prairie Home Companion, which opens on Friday. I saw the film last Friday night, and it is absolutely delightful, and meeting them and chatting with them about the film and about working with Robert Altman was a real thrill. They had some very interesting and very funny things to say, and I’m gonna share them with you over the course of this week leading up to my review of the film on Friday. Cuz at this time of year, it’s the big blow-‘em-up action movies and the giant cartoons that get all the attention, and here’s a great, fun movie for grownups that’s smart and sophisticated and witty, and it really deserves to get some of the same attention lavished on it. So I’m gonna do my bit. (And, yes, the film is advertising here at FlickFilosopher.com, but I wouldn’t be pushing it if it weren’t completely worth your time and attention.) So check in all week to find out what’s so cool about A Prairie Home Companion.
In the meantime, there’s still time to enter my Prairie Home Companion contest. The prizes? Two posters from the film.
