10 years of Flick Filosopher: let’s get small
As I started attending more and more press screenings and just seeing more and more films in general, it soon become obvious that I wasn’t going to be able to write full-length reviews of everything I saw. So I instituted the Short Cuts section: the first Short Cut was the Japanese crime comedy Adrenaline Drive:
A fender bender with a gangster. An explosion at the local yakuza HQ. A suitcase full of dirty — and bloody — money. This is the kind of day it has been for timid rental-car clerk Satoru Suzuki (Masanobu Ando). Throw in a meek nurse, Shizuko Sato (Japanese TV star Hikari Ishida), and you’ve got the makings of a sweet and clever little comedy.
