my week at the movies: ‘Push,’ and that’s it
It looks like I picked precisely the right week-to-ten-days to escape to London: I’ve got exactly one movie on my screening schedule for this week, and that’s not because I’m flying out of here early Wednesday morning. Mere hours before I hop on a plane to Heathrow — weather permitting on both sides of the Atlantic, of course — I’ll sneak downtown to catch Push (opens in the U.S. on February 6, and in the U.K. on February 20). Because it’s action and it’s science fiction and I’m such a big ol’ geek that I don’t want to miss it. Even it does look like about half a dozen other things we’ve seen of late.
If I weren’t traveling, I might have ventured out on Wednesday night to see The Pink Panther 2… but then again, maybe not.
But that’s the only other movie on offer to us critics in NYC this week. I’ve been asking Warner Bros. for any info on screenings of He’s Just Not That Into You, which opens this Friday, and I haven’t heard a peep in response. It must be even worse than it looks.
And when I look out over the rest of cinematic February, things look even more dire. Maybe I just won’t come home at all.
