retro trailer: ‘Invasion U.S.A.’

Take a look back at an old trailer…

It’s this year’s — or 1952’s, anyway — shock cinema! That’s right: it’s shocking how much stock footage and TV news talking-head reportage makes up this movie. You won’t believe the things you’ll be told are happening in this movie, somewhere offscreen because we were too cheap to actually shoot it!

Gotta love that one guy who’s not gonna let something as insignificant as an invasion by godless commies stop him from getting his freak on: “War or no war, people have to eat and drink… and make love.” She should totally come back with something like, “Yeah, and war or no war, honey, people still have to not drink so much so they reek like a stinking barroom floor and could maybe make sure a lady has a good time instead of pawing her like a horny monkey, Bob.”

I bet she doesn’t say that.

You may recall that this flick was riffed on by the Mystery Science Theater 3000 boys in Season 6 of that series.

Invasion U.S.A. is available on DVD in Region 1; it is not available in Region 2. (The MST3K version isn’t available at all.)
