trailer break: ‘Couples Retreat’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

At first glance — and frankly, at second and third glances, too — this looks like something I’m really, really gonna hate. But it’s written by Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, who I do really like on the other side of the camera as well, generally, and it’s directed by Peter Billingsley, who isn’t merely that kid from A Christmas Story but is also part of Vaughn’s and Favreau’s posse.

So maybe this trailer will turn out to be an inaccurate representation of the film.

I can hope, anyway.

Couples Retreat opens in the U.S. on October 9, and in the U.K. on October 16.

“You’ve been married seven years and you’re still aroused by the same woman?!?!?!”

Wow, I’m celebrating my seventh year of marriage in a week, and let me tell you, it gets MORE arousing, not less (assuming the relationship is healthy). I just wish Hollywood would understand that married people DO have sex and it’s not the boring drudgery they make it out to be. And if is it for you, you may want to reconsider your choice in spouse. :)

I see we’ve got the standard stereotypes here: the sex-crazed cheaters (they’re oh-so-crazy!), the antsy/frigid/weirdly violent ones, the awkward ones who have a barrier (in this case, age), and your “normal” protragonists. You’ve got four hot women with three schlubs and one attractive, yet seemingly psychopathic, man.

LULZ TEH GAY! ITS SO GROOOSSSSSS AND FFUUUNNNYYY

    …not.

I know of a marriage in which the sex, I am told, only started getting really hot after ten years or so……
