trailer break: ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’

Take a break from work: watch a trailer…

Really? A Wild Hogs reference?

I will give the trailer the “What color is Michael Jackson?” joke — that’s pretty funny. I’ll even give it the Back to the Future/Bill and Ted retro nostalgia vibe. But the Twitter/Viagra joke has got to go.

Hot Tub Time Machine opens in the U.S. and Canada on March 19; no U.K. release date has been announced.

I like the Cusack, but he seems out of place in the trailer, and I don’t know why.

While not as funny as the Jackson joke, I think the joke at the end about texting/online/getting ahold of a person is pretty spot on for people my age.

The “Twitagra” joke was great, since it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t even understand concepts like Twitter. The other joke at the end though, yeah, meh. Maybe he didn’t know he was in the 80’s yet.

    Well, if you say so…

I’ve kinda gotten sick of “what color is Michael Jackson” jokes.

And is Chevy Chase supposed to playing a variation of the Don Knotts character in Pleasantville?

And has American culture changed that much since the 1980s? Really?

Then again I still snicker at the way That 70s Show depicted the 70s so I’m guessing this isn’t the right movie for me.

But as an indication what year we’re in? That’s what’s funny. Not Jackson’s numerous issues.

As someone who was a teenager in the 80s can attest: oh yes.

Also, it’s what color WAS Michael Jackson. I guess IS still works, but hey…
