Oh, I get it: the title is meant to be ironic. I know that’s a tough concept for some people, but it means that even though the movie is called Grown Ups, that’s kind of a joke because the characters actually aren’t grown up at all. And the movie itself is not meant for grownups either, but instead for manchildren who believe that it’s “grody” that women over the age of 40 might be considered sexually attractive; that violent old ladies are hilarious; that breastfeeding is weird and icky, or at least something best limited to a few narrow acceptable constraints; and that a big fat guy slamming into a tree is just the funniest thing ever… unless it’s the notion of a bunch of ostensibly adult men revealing themselves to be disgusting slobs by peeing in a public swimming pool.
The tagline of the film? It’s the charming “Boys will be boys… some longer than others.” See, men can’t help being juvenile morons: it’s just the way they’re made.
Grown Ups opens in the U.S. and Canada on June 25, and in the U.K. on August 6.
