the oh-no! DVD of the week: ‘F.A.R.T. The Movie’

According to Wikipedia:

F.A.R.T. the Movie, released in 1991, is about a man named Russell who is obsessed with farting. His girlfriend Heather despises farts and becomes angry with Russell because all he does is watch television and fart. She tells him that if the television turns into fart jokes, then Russell won’t even leave the house. Then one night, the television does become all about farts.

Based on the novel by Oscar Wilde, with a screenplay by Tom Stoppard, and directed by Kenneth Branagh, and starring Dame Judi Dench as Heather, and Ian McKellan as Russell. Remember when this swept the Oscars? I always enjoy seeing great artists get showered with appreciation for their finest works.

Isn’t this the prequel to “Ass, The Movie”?

Fascinating bit of trivia from IMDb (I’m guessing that it was submitted by the filmmakers themselves):

When the producers were looking for technicians to work on the movie, several trade publications including DAILY VARIETY refused to run the “help wanted” ads until the word “fart” was removed from the ad copy. The ads were accepted only after the title was changed to “Windbreakers”.

The alternate title actually requires a modicum of wit to devise. It must have hurt to have to think that hard.

  • I’ll have to netflix this so I can watch it after SyFy’s “Ow, My Balls!” marathon.

  • Hoooooomygod. That is … what? Whaaat?

Is it wrong that I want a full size movie poster of that DVD cover?

    …His girlfriend Heather …

one cannot help but wonder HOW did that happen?

one cannot help but wonder HOW did that happen?

In many movies, women are props. Why any woman would want to date a complete loser like Russell is not relevant. She’s just a prop to keep the plot, which revolves around Russell, going.
