omg: somewhere in an alternate universe, Lisa Simpson is getting married today

Reader Martin reminds me that in a Simpsons-flavored parallel future-now, today — August 1, 2010 — was to have been the day that Lisa would have been marrying Hugh Parkfield:

D’oh. I feel old, as Martin says he does, too. But then he adds:

I still have time before it’s Back to the Future’s future, which is the important one.

Not that much time, though: It’s only five years away.

  • This is the moment when filmmakers start making movies about their crazy childhoods. Much like the films of the 80s were all about 60s… and now it’s time… time to tell our kids’ generations just what it was like to watch Michael J. Fox save the spacetime continuum…

Back to the Future’s future eh? Cant wait till there’s hoverboards!

  • danielle

I just saw Back to the Future yesterday. The future. Was 2013. Haha… we’re no where closet flying cars and hoverboards.

  • Jurgan

As cool as the flying cars were, I’m not sure I’m in a hurry to get them. At least, not until I’m confident people can drive in two dimensions.

  • Martin

Jurgan, the only thing you can hit when you’re flying is the ground.

And that’s too far away to worry about.

  • JoshDM

And people walking on the ground.

Going back to the topic, does that mean Bill Clinton is Homer Simpson?

  • Left_Wing_Fox

Biggger question: Could The Simpsons have remained relevant had the characters actually aged? It has been around for more than 20 years, even Maggie would be about ready to graduate college by now.

    @Left_Wing_Fox

Think “Cosby Show” and you have your answer.
