female gazing at: Shaun Cassidy

I know I’m showing my age here, but Shaun Cassidy was my very first celebrity crush. Oh, how I yearned for him with all my eight-year-old heart. (So perhaps it’s not so weird that my seven-year-old niece just wore a Justin Bieber t-shirt on her first day of school.)

When I was a kid, music came on vinyl, and we liked it:

The Hardy Boys Mysteries was appointment viewing at the Johanson household, by order of the eldest daughter:

Is it sad that I still get a little thrill gazing at him? Nah…

I’m posting pictures like these every weekday, of a man who is attractive and desirable, because I like to look, dammit — and because the female gaze doesn’t have to be such serious business.

(If you have a suggestion for someone we should female-gaze at, feel free to email me with a name or a link to a particular photo.)

  • Yeah, he was a total cutie. though I always preferred Parker Stevenson when they were doing the Hardy Boys…

    You have a younger sister? Do tell…

    My own younger sister–okay, my only sister–was a big Shaun Cassidy fan when she was a teenager. On her behalf, I applaud your good taste. ;-)

  • I guess I’ll show my age too–I owned that album, and played it until my mother threatened to hide it. (She fought back with Montovani, which was totally unfair.) My first real love had the same haircut (which was still in style). Ahhhhh…those were the days.

    He’s still cuter than Bieber.

    Oh dear…I had an urge to see what Shaun looks like today, so checked out pictures on IMDB. Not as pretty now – but neither am I!

  • Don’t go all Sally Draper on us…

    Whyever not? :->

    “Doing a Sally Draper” could be an excellent synonym for “I’ll be in my bunk.”

  • Rachel Hartman

    … I had that same album. I remember playing it over and over at a slumber party while we all sang along.
