The first get-together of the London Cinemarati came off without a hitch last night at the Freemasons Arms in Covent Garden. The turnout was smaller than I expected. Nine or ten people had RSVPed via Meetup.com, but only three people showed up: FlickFilosopher.com readers Proper Dave and RogerBW (center left and center right in the photo below), and our new friend Grace (left), via Meetup.com:
And that’s me on the right, of course.
So the group was small but our conversation was lively, and roamed all over the place, from our favorite movies to the things that annoy us most about the hell that is Other People in cinemas to what’s worth watching on TV at the moment, and beyond to encompass our work, things to do in London, and living a creative life, as all four of us are doing to varying degrees.
The Freemasons Arms was a bit noisy when we arrived around 6pm, what with both the cricket world cup and a football game on the TVs, but as soon as the matches were over, it quieted down and cosied up right quick. I imagine we’ll be returning to the Arms again in the future.
Sign up for upcoming events and keep an eye out for future get-togethers by watching this space or joining Cinemarati at Meetup.com (also accessible via Cinemarati.org).
