question of the day: What is your favorite iconic still image from filmdom?
Today’s question is inspired by a post at Top 10 Films, highlighting this image from 2001: A Space Odyssey as an iconic image:
What is your favorite iconic still image from filmdom?
Obviously I’m not talking about an image that is actually motionless necessarily, but an image that implies stillness, one that the director lingers on for impact. Perhaps you find yourself holding your breath during such a movie moment, such as this one:
the moment building suspense as to what will happen next. Or perhaps, as with HAL9000’s unblinking eye, the stillness lends a sense of the sinister to the implied action that is happening offscreen.
