Game of Thrones S02 E05: “The Ghost of Harrenhal”
(previous: “Garden of Bones”)
Fire fire fire! </beavis>
So much we learn! There are “pyromancers.” In King’s Landing there is an “Alchemists Guild” where they make “wildfire.” Tyrion goes from disdainful of the notion to gimme-gimme in the space of a moment… the moment it takes to realize he could destroy King’s Landing with all the wildfire ready to go. (Here it is: Westeros’ weapon of mass destruction.) I foresee a really big battle brewing. Not between some the Lannisters and the Starks or the Lannisters and the Baratheons between whichever Lannister or Stark or Baratheon ends up on the Iron Throne and the traveling roadshow of Daenerys Targaryen and her Fabulous Dragons.
Oh, they’re cute now:
But they won’t be little forever. And — oh yeah — “dragons are fire made flesh, and fire is power,” says the weird masked lady at Qarth party.
Ah, and the women! Suddenly, it seems that all the real power players here are women. Daenerys, obviously. Melisandre’s demon-shadow spawn is killing kings. Margaery doesn’t just want to be “a queen” but “the Queen.” Brienne is pledging herself to Catelyn Stark, and vice versa — this will be a powerfull alliance, I suspect. Arya is now known to be a girl and she seems to have more power than ever… the power of life and death, even.
