Madison Avenue thinks consumers are stupid (and other adventures in social networking)

What my followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ saw today:
• It’s official: Madison Avenue does in fact think consumers are stupid. Apparently we are unaware that actors play characters in ads. Sony Sues Actor Who Abandoned PlayStation for Nintendo Wii

• Guy who runs really popular food site says, Dear god no, don’t become a freelance food writer, it’s impossible to make a living doing that. Meanwhile: He doesn’t pay his writers, and he’s cool with that, because people are lining up to write for him for free. A pox on them all. Q&A with Colman Andrews: He’d Never Recommend Food Writing As a Career (Apparently, the way to make it in journalism these days is to prey on desperate writers. Fuck this shit.)

• I’d like to think this is a good idea, but it’s hard to see how this can survive in the current arts-unfriendly environment. A Documentary-Only Film Theater for New York

• Now we know what the Doctor was up to between 1989 and 2005… BREAKING news on Sky as yet another national icon of childhood reveals a dark side

Doctor Who Sabbatical

The chyron reads:

DOCTOR WHO TOOK SABBATICAL TO LEAD TERROR GROUP IN SYRIA
