female gazing at: Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck

I saw Argo again last night — it was just as riveting the second time around. Astonishingly, it was only during my first viewing that I suddenly realized how totally hot Affleck is.

Ben Affleck

It’s the brains and the talent on display that did it. They make any man more attractive. Even if he already starts out like this:

Old school 90s-style:

Plus, he’s friendly!

(If you have a suggestion for someone we should female-gaze at, feel free to email me with a name or a link to a particular photo. But check to see whom we’ve already gazed at.)

Fell in love with Ben Affleck while watching Argo as well! I’m a big fan of Jen Garner too and the fact that she married him boosts him up for me as well. Thanks for the gaze. ;)

Friendly? I don’t know, maybe he’s just flashing his wedding ring to remind us all that not only is he handsome and talented, but he also gets to go home with Jennifer Garner every night.

add me to those who “discovered” ben affleck’s hotness while watching Argo… the talent, the really understated acting, Good Will Hunting…  it’s a good package.

Hah! I totally agree. There’s something about that shaggy Argo hair.

I sometimes like it when men have sort of scruffy beards…

Argo was a great movie. It’s been my favorite this autumn — far and away — and this is a worthy Gaze subject.

But, I was wondering, could we have some Gaze posts about females? I was thinking that the subject(s) would be female and from the perspective of the Female Gaze. The way women are regarded by other women (including sexually, by other women who are attracted to them — but this is by no means the only aspect) is different than by men. [I was thinking of this after starting a book about a woman's desires and sensual adventures that was written by a man. It was written just fine, no glaring errors or stupidities, but, it felt off. If I were better at literary analysis and if I were willing to finish it (but life is short) I could explain this in detail. But, I won't be finishing it.]

Perhaps a subject could be Jamie Lee-Curtis in Blue Steel compared to The Fog or >yech< You Again, for example.

The films he’s directed make him more likeable, to be sure.

I have loved Ben since long before Argo. And it was NOT easy in the JLo years, believe me. But his directing career has more than made up for Gigli. Quite a turnaround.
