Introducing the secret film tonight: Wong Kar Wai’s The Grandmaster. (Yes, it was the chopped-up version Weinstein Co. is releasing for Western consumption.) (That’s LFF director Clare Stewart with him.)
Sorry, I have NO clue where to put this…but I had to tell you how much I liked today’s quote in the Daily Digest!
“These days gentlemen are an endangered species. Unlike bloody drag queens, who just keep breeding like rabbits.” –The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
In fact, I’ve been enjoying all the daily quotations.
I’d hoped after Red Cliff that they wouldn’t bother to do this butchery again. Ah well.
Tell your friends. :->
I liked Red Cliff. And I only saw the butchered version.
Yes, well, artistic integrity (releasing the film the director made) falls in the face of profit (tweaking the film for the local market, like Planes with its interchangeable ethnic background character). I’m not surprised, just disappointed that this trend is continuing.
