It’s not often you get to see the platform from down on the tracks. (More on my Thames Tunnel tour here, here, here, and here.)
Interesting – my immediate reaction is “action film”, though right now I can’t think of one in which this shot occurs.
Not that unusual for me. I’m track-trained. Did you know that in NYC most of that dust in the tunnels is steel? It’s a byproduct of steel wheels on steel rails. Cool view though.
During your tour, were you ever in a tunnel and a train was going through on adjacent track?
No, the line was completely shut down for engineering works elsewhere. There were tours leaving every 10 minutes, and we walked up one track and back along the other, so we were passing tours on the other track. I can’t imagine they would have done the tours if trains would get that close.
Cool about the dust.
There’s action in the tube in the most recent James Bond flick. He might have run along the tracks at one point.
