I fixed that Mad Max poster for all the MRAs male supremacists complaining about Fury Road

IMPORTANT UPDATE! I have been informed that proprietors of the He-Man Woman Haterz Club site that is so very worried about being emasculated by the existence of Mad Max: Fury Road don’t like to be called MRAs, or men’s rights activists. Therefore let them be forevermore known as “male supremacists,” which is a much more accurate description.

This is not a drill. There are for-real terrified manchildren pissing themselves in terror over the fact that, in Mad Max: Fury Road, Charlize Theron shaved her head and drives a stick, contrary to legally mandated ladyness, and that she is allowed to yell at Tom Hardy. And also because the film is anti sex slavery (which makes it anti male, you see):

(Poster via We Hunted the Mammoth. See also these brilliant and hilarious WHtM posts: “Furious about Furiosa: Misogynists are losing it over Charlize Theron’s starring role in Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Fury and Furiouser: The boycott of Mad Max Fury Road is the biggest joke on the internet; manbabies declare victory.”)

Anyway, I did this in their honor, and in honor all social justice warriors:

Feel free to share it as you see fit.

Love the changes to the 70’s MM art.

Ultimately, I think the funniest thing is that their “boycott” isn’t working. Every show is packed, apparently, in my neighborhood.

  • Dr. Rocketscience

“Interpersonal violence against men”, huh? These dudebros are gonna blow an outrage gasket within a month.

  • It’s not a boycott. It’s a mancott. :-)

  • GeeksAreMyPeeps

Oh, it’s a boycott all right

  • LaSargenta

*sigh* But, I know several 12/13 y.o. boys who think the movie is cool and don’t seem to have a problem with it. I took my kid on Sat, that evening he was describing it to 4 other boys, they all seemed to think it sounded great, including Furiosa’s prosthetic arm…none of them seemed offended. And they were discussing it while reenacting bits from the trailer with nerf machine guns.

We need a new word for these people. And, whatever their name is, I think it should be printed in Old English font with random umlauts. Is there a font called Spinal Tap?

  • GeeksAreMyPeeps

Fair enough. But mainchildcott or mracott doesn’t have a decent cadence to it.

  • LaSargenta

But think how either would look in Spinal Tap!

  • Danielm80

One of these fonts might work:

Also, the 70% male audiences at Mad Max screenings seemed to be okay watching Charlize for two hours, but maybe we’ll see huge mancotts next week.

So, Return of Kings (of whose existence most of the world was blissfully unaware until a couple weeks ago) wants to play No True Scotsman in order to distance themselves from the label Men’s Rights Activist. They’re for “masculinity”, and something. Well, bless their hearts.

And, JudgyBitch (of whose existence I was blissfully unaware until just now) takes their “We are generally against men’s rights” statement at face value, because (I’m guessing here – her aims are rather unclear) she thinks she can use it in her own personal culture war battlefront. Well bless her heart, too.

And bless your heart, too, RB, for thinking anyone here can’t recognize bullshit when they smell it.

    From the RoK website:

We are generally against men’s rights and how they portray men as victims in need of state assistance (see: The Men’s Rights Movement Is No Place For Men). Women and homosexuals are strongly discouraged from commenting here.

RoK states it does not support MRAs. What do you not comprehend?

  • R B

BTW, I’m not an MRA either. I’m not pro or anti-feminist nor am I pro or anti-MRA. Both groups have good and bad. It’s amusing you automatically assumed that I am a MRA. I do admit I am anti-SJW.

  • Bluejay

    I’m not pro or anti-feminist

Bull. You’re one or the other. Feminism asks that women be treated as people of equal worth and value as men. Either you support that or you don’t.

    I do admit I am anti-SJW.

Feminists have been labeled “SJWs” by anti-feminists precisely because feminists call for the culture to treat women as people. If you’re anti-“SJW,” you’re anti-feminist. Might as well own up to it.

Also, just a tip: “Liking” your own comments just makes you look tacky.

  • Please do not link to that vile woman’s writing.

Please do not post comments that are nothing more than a link to another site. Let us know why you are linking to it and what it has to do with the post you are commenting on or the commenter you are responding to.

  • You’re right. Let’s call those disgusting pickup artists what they are: male supremacists.

  • You’re against social justice? And you’re proud to say that publicly?

  • Dr. Rocketscience

Toxic gender essentialism is as toxic gender essentialism does, chief. Return of Kings* wants to try an distance themselves from the MRA label, then I wish them joy. I’m not required to lower my standards of credulity to not notice that the only discernible difference between them and what they want to label MRAs is the issue of legal protection**.

You, of course, are likewise welcome to be stupidly credulous and childishly pedantic as you like. As I said, bless your hearts.

    * Kings, huh? As though these dudebros would ever have risen above “village idiot”.
** Well, that and a paralyzing fear of being perceived as “weak” and therefore (in their peabrains) “feminine”.

  • Dr. Rocketscience

“Oh no,” I’m sue he’ll say, he’s against social justice warriors. He’s perfectly happy to let people not like him have all the rights they want, just so long as he gets to dictate which rights those are, and so long as they don’t get all uppity about it, and so long as no one ever ever attempts to pop the bubble of superiority he’s built around himself.

  • Danielm80

For the past few months, I’ve been wondering about the shelf-life of the MRA movement. Sexism, unfortunately, will probably be around for years to come. But I’m curious how long this particular strain of chauvinism will be with us before it collapses under the weight of its own ridiculousness. If we see enough male supremacist posts like these, I’m guessing it will collapse sometime in the next couple of hours.

  • David C-D

I found these links to be helpful, thanks for posting. Not sure if I totally agree with the conclusions though. The articles that I checked seemed to be reporting specifically on RoK, not claiming that they represent the manosphere in general.

The references to RoK as an MRA site seem more like an issue of insensitivity than an attempt to perpetuate a hoax. Until today I was unaware of the manosphere and its various subgroups. Maybe at some point the MSM will catch up and no longer incorrectly refer to a PUA as MRA.

My initial reaction was to be skeptical of the need for sensitivity to the self-descriptions of the inhabitants of the manosphere. However, having been taught that it best to use the names that people choose for themselves when possible, I am trying to apply that principle even in this case.

I am wary of referring to an entire group as “male supremacists” as it reminds me of the term “feminazis” which I always hated. Perhaps the group in question are deserving though? I couldn’t face wading through more comment threads to find out.

  • David C-D

Thanks to “We hunted the Mammoth”, I didn’t have to wade much. I guess I had imagined some kind of buried-in-the-comment-threads, covert male supremacy. I was unprepared for the reality of “neomasculinity”.

  • These men are sincerely all about treating women as subhuman. “Male supremacist” is a gentle way to describe them.

  • They don’t hide it. They are proud. The best we can presume about them is that they may be inventing some of the terrible things they say they’ve done.

  • Bluejay

And the original “we hunted the mammoth to feed you” macho statement is a bullshit claim anyway.

  • These guys are not big on facts.
