London photos: sci-fi props and costumes up for auction

scifiprops3

This afternoon I popped over the BFI IMAX cinema on Southbank to see Everest (review asap), where I discovered that a whole bunch of way-cool props, costumes, and memorabilia from SF/F and adjacent movies and TV shows are on display ahead of an auction scheduled for September 23rd. (See Prop Store for more details, including how to bid online.) This is but a taste of what I saw, and only a taste of what will be up for sale.

Above, goodies from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

This Dalek (from Doctor Who, of course) is estimated to go for between £4,000 and £6,000:

(You all know that Blue Harvest was the code-name that was used during the filming of Return of the Jedi, right?)

If you’re in London and want to check out the display, it’s open to the public: you don’t need to buy a movie ticket.

the online catalogue is pretty interesting. the only things i’m interested in are waaaay too expensive, even in their starting bids.
