That pose looks perfectly natural if you’re standing next to your Invisible Jet and holding your Lasso of Truth.
And come to think of it, we can’t be sure that one of those ladies isn’t standing next to an invisible jet.
“Just in case you can’t tell, I am a Strong Female Character.”
Or an invisible dragon? :-)
The arms-akimbo power pose is such a tired superhero cliche, though. I don’t recall anyone adopting it lately, in comics or onscreen (except maybe in publicity shots that aren’t actually in the film/show). I don’t think Wonder Woman has done it since Lynda Carter.
Or you could go the extra mile and give them body armor that doesn’t look like a swim suit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6ZYpawbAP4
I stand like that when my lower back is hurting.
It may be tired for a superhero cliche, but the pose was featured in something I read recently about body language affecting your mindset. (Can’t remember where I read it.) The recommendation was to stand, feet apart, hands on hips, head high, for 2 minutes, in order to gain confidence and feel powerful. Called it the Wonder Woman pose, specifically.
