from Facebook: how Hollywood keeps out women’s stories

  • Danielm80

“There is a fear that female filmmakers can only tell female stories,” she says of the values that grip Hollywood — “that women can only talk about their periods and cry.”

Because Patricia Highsmith is known for her sweet, sentimental novels. Other touching romance novels by women that have been optioned recently: The Hunger Games, Insurgent, Gone Girl, and Room.

Actually, most of the really disturbing horror movies I’ve seen in the past two years were written by women, along with Trainwreck, a raunchy sex comedy.
