Well, obviously she should get back in her cupboard and make way for the latest young actress who doesn’t know any better.
(I saw the trailer for All Roads Lead to Rome, and got hit by the uncanny valley: Sarah Jessica Parker now looks to me like a parody of a human being. But I don’t have to live in a world where women over 21 become increasingly invisible.)
Yes, a woman her age should settle on playing grandmothers!
I assume this is an actor? Someone who gets judged All The Time on their looks?
Or is this another political office candidate I haven’t heard of yet? Or a lawyer for a bank that might get raked over the coals in a Senate hearing so she’s getting time on c-span?
*Can’t tell if joking or serious*
Not an X-Files fan? This is Gillian Anderson, who plays Dana Scully on that show.
People have been commenting for a while now about “the work” she’s supposedly had done.
I’ve never watched the show. Also, I believe, I haven’t seen her in anything else, although I know she has been in quite a bit.
I ignore any discussions about “work” people “have done”. I (a) live under a rock, (b) don’t really care much about actors’ personal lives so I (c) don’t pay any attention to them outside of their work products unless I literally trip over them (like I almost, avoiding it by a couple of inches, did to Daniel Craig at my local grocery). I only notice when I think it affects their performances, as I think it has done to Bruce Willis. As he gets older, his face looks more wooden, but less wrinkled. I assume it is botox.
As MarkyD noted, it’s Gillian Anderson, who’s been in a ton of stuff lately that isn’t *The X-Files.*
The point of my post, though, is that women get castigated and ridiculed when they make efforts to retain the youthfulness they are told they must retain, but also when they don’t. Women cannot ever win.
Yeah, I got that. Thing is, from my viewpoint, this happens to all women. It is ridiculous it happens to actors, but it also happens to the other examples I mentioned. It IS, indeed, Women who cannot ever win, not just actresses;
No one is suggesting that this only happens to actresses.
