– Civil War spoilers –
It all makes sense now. He spends the movie being pursued by a forbidding man in black, and gets his arm hacked off by a rage-filled guy in a robot suit. And, um, I guess he goes into deep freeze when he’s not needed?
Yeah, that’s a stretch. ;-)
Hmm. The story has a man in black*, a giant, and a hero who’s only mostly dead. And I can imagine the villain saying, “My name is Helmut Zemo. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” I don’t remember any Rodents of Unusual Size, though.
*There’s a Man in Black in this movie, Star Wars, The Princess Bride, Walk the Line, The Mask of Zorro, and Men in Black. Maybe we should update Joseph Campbell to The Hero with a Thousand Faces and One Outfit.
Rodents of Unusual Size? I don’t believe they exist.
In Maryann’s book on The Princess Bride, she wrote a scene where Westley, Johnny Cash, and Agents J and K all meet. There may have been a couple others, I can’t remember.
I’ll have to re-read that. I definitely remember the Johnny Cash joke, but I’d forgotten Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones were in there.
