At least we’re getting some great comedy from the Trump era…
But Kate McKinnon!
I don’t think Devos is going to be in the news all that much. I could be wrong, but there are a lot of people in an administration and SNL only has 70 minutes a week, so they want time to spoof the big guns.
We should protest DeVos so loudly and so often that she’s in the news every single week.
she has already achieved greatness as kellyanne conway.
Yes, but her range is impressive, and I’d love to see more of it. Just on last night’s SNL, she played Conway, Elizabeth Warren, and Jeff Sessions. Her Angela Merkel is hilarious too.
She can’t play everybody!
YES SHE CAN! :-)
In his New York Times review of the latest episode, Mike Hale compared her to Tatiana Maslany, which is very high praise, considering how few shows Mike Hale actually likes. It would be interesting to see how McKinnon would handle a dramatic role.
There will be tons of things to protest in this administration. Devos is just one small symptom of a massive infection.
Protesting DeVos doesn’t mean we’re not protesting anything else. And people can choose what issues they want to focus their energies on.
DeVos is one of many symptoms, but she’s an important one. As the person who’s supposed to lead America’s entire effort to educate its children, her ignorance and destructive policies will have a huge impact on the nation’s future. It’s crucial to keep her in the spotlight of public scrutiny.
But you’re right, there will be tons of things to protest. Let’s all make sure we’re not just commiserating online, but also actively calling our representatives.
(And if the phone lines are constantly jammed, postcards work too.)
I’d actually argue that the DeVos appointment is the most important thing I’ve protested this year. Her decisions will affect an entire generation of students, and our country very badly needs a better educational system. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have elected Donald Trump.
