A reminder on International Women’s Day.
Does anyone know of any female film critics on YouTube? I’ve noticed a recent trend of some very good video essay channels starting up all within a few months of each other. They are all rather excellent but are also all rather men. Does anyone know of any new channels or old and overlooked channels that prominently feature women?
Something in the vein of:
So far the only female film critic on YouTube that I know of is:
Heh, I was about to recommend Lindsay Ellis. I just found her recently when Mikey Neumann tweeted that particular video essay.
He certainly takes his time.
What a load of crap. Females outnumber males in nursing, teaching, pornography, midwiving, etc. yet i never seen anyone complaining about the “under-representation” of men in these fields. If a woman wants to be a film critic…ah, just do it; it’s just that simple. Just because there is a “lack” of women somewhere doesn’t inherently mean it’s a grand patriarchal conspiracy to repress women. You know what? I’m outraged because there is a rampant and frankly sickening under-representation of 60 year old albino men named Charlie who sexually identify as Boeing 747s on this blog. This is ageism, sexism, and trans-object-ism plain and simple; you should be appalled.
“I don’t see any job openings for a doctor or lawyer or investment banker. Would you like to be a porn star?”
Thanks for being a perfect example of the stark raving ignorance women still have to fight against.
doesn’t inherently mean it’s a grand patriarchal conspiracy to repress women
Actually, that is precisely what it is.
It’s so cute how you think that women — more than half the population — are somehow niche like “60 year old albino men named Charlie who sexually identify as Boeing 747s.” What must it be like in your head?
