TiVo this! can't-miss geek movies on TV, 03.13-03.19

I scour the skeds so you don’t have to, and point out the best geek highlights of the week in some unexpected places: Turner Classic Movies and The Sundance Channel, which show films uncut and uninterrupted (and sometimes in letterbox). But ya gotta turn to The SciFi Channel once in a while, too, commercials and editing be damned -- there’s nothing like geeking out in front of the tube with built-in breaks for munchie refills and snark attacks.

(All times are Eastern. Times between midnight and 5:59am actually refer to the previous date. In other words, 2am Saturday really means the overnight twilight zone between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Links in movie titles go to my review.)

MONDAY 03.13

5:45am: The Gong Show Movie. Confessions of a not-so-dangerous mind.

TUESDAY 03.14

11:45pm: Wild at Heart. David Lynch does his thing.

6:30am: Sinbad the Sailor. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. in the 1947 swashbuckling classic.

THURSDAY 03.16

10:00pm: Videodrome. David Cronenberg's mother says, See, I knew that boy watched too much TV as a kid.

6:00am: I Like Your Nerve. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. again, this time as a book nerd turned adventurer in this little-seen 1931 flick.

11:00pm: Leprechaun and Leprechaun 2. Get yer Irish up.

FRIDAY 03.17

12:00m: Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary. It’s a silent movie, it’s a ballet. It’s weird.

10:00am: The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns: Part 1 and Part 2. What, you were expecting The Quiet Man, perhaps?

SATURDAY 03.18

10:30am onwards: The Lost Boys, Dracula 3000: Infinite Darkness, John Carpenter Presents Vampires: Los Muertos, Out for Blood, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Queen of the Damned. What? It’s the traditional day-after-Patty’s-Day vampire marathon. You got a problem with that?

SUNDAY 03.19

8:15pm: The Seven-Per-Cent Solution. Sherlock Holmesian goodness.

10:15pm: Robin and Marian. Men in tights.

7:00pm: Village of the Damned. The one with Kirsty Alley and Christopher Reeve, not the cool and spooky black-and-white one.
