X-Men posters too good not to steal
I am in love with these X-Men III teaser posters that have been showing up around Manhattan, on bus kiosks and subway entrances and even on enormous billboards along the BQE. I can’t say that I’m a huge fan of fashion photography, but it’s the fact that these images (there are six in all) look like something out of a fashion magazine that they’re so intriguing to me. Or maybe it’s just that they’re so distinctive -- they don’t look like any other movie ads out there, and so they stand out from the sea of movie-clutter that assaults you in a place like Manhattan, where there’s advertising absolutely everywhere. I did a double take the first time I saw one of these, and I can’t take my eyes off them when I see one now. They’re a really, really brilliant way to catch the eye.
I’m not the only one who thinks so: the posters are apparently being stolen at a rapid rate, and then they’re selling on eBay for a pretty penny.
But then I must juxtapose that with the knowledge, which I just acquired today, that the hacktacular “director” Brett Ratner has taken over the franchise from Bryan Singer, and now I’m very, very afraid for the film.

Those really do look cool. The geek buzz for this movie has been mediocre-to-horrible (based mostly on the Ratner Factor), but they're selling it well. The trailer looks good too.

I predict awful; the mutant cure seems like a rehash of X2. Of course, in the comics, the next step is to go with either sci-fi (Phoenix Force) or non-mutant-powered humans (Juggernaut), or time travel (Days of Future Whatever), so this is the next step, I guess. No Sentinels, though. Bad move.
