MONDAY 06.19

4:15PM: Merry Andrew. This 1958 comedy is all about Danny Kaye, archaeology, ancient treasure, and a circus troupe. Sounds like it’ll do in a geek pinch.

3:05AM: Videodrome. David Cronenberg gets freaky. Like that’s a surprise.

TUESDAY 06.20

2:30PM: Casablanca. Sure, it ain’t exactly geeky, even if it is one of the greatest movies ever made, but I like to think that Indiana Jones ran into Rick Blaine during the Spanish Civil War and still drops into Rick’s every once in a while. It’s the romantic in me.

FRIDAY 06.23

9:00AM: The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. Not only is it the world’s greatest consulting detective, he’s investigating the Loch Ness Monster. Cool.

SATURDAY 06.24

9:30AM: The Abominable Dr. Phibes. Vincent Price calls down the plagues of Egypt on his enemies. Awesome.

6:00PM: Very Annie Mary. Rachel Griffiths as a strange but charming geek girl in a small Welsh town. Good stuff.

4:00PM: H. G. Wells’ War of the Worlds. Some fans say this is a really decent low-budget adaptation of the book -- perhaps even better than Spielberg’s. Stars C. Thomas Howell.

6:00PM: Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Big nuke destroys L.A., and other bad stuff happens. Verdict for humanity: Doomed.

SUNDAY 06.25

8:00AM: Mutiny on the Bounty. The classic 1935 adventure tale, and a huge influence on all future adventure flicks to come.

2:15PM: Forbidden Planet. Leslie Nielsen, back before he was allegedly funny, investigates Anne Francis’s breasts, as well as some kind of lost space colony. Whatever.
