TiVo this! can't-miss geek movies on TV, 09.25-10.01

[NOTE: TiVo This! is getting a big makeover, with lots more channels and lots more movies listed. Watch for the debut of the new TiVo This! very soon...]

I scour the skeds so you don’t have to, and point out the best geek highlights of the week in some unexpected places: Turner Classic Movies and The Sundance Channel, which show films uncut and uninterrupted (and sometimes in letterbox). But ya gotta turn to The SciFi Channel once in a while, too, commercials and editing be damned -- there’s nothing like geeking out in front of the tube with built-in breaks for munchie refills and snark attacks.

(All times are Eastern. Times between midnight and 5:59am actually refer to the previous date. In other words, 2am Saturday really means the overnight twilight zone between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Links in movie titles go to my review.)

TUESDAY 09.26

11:15PM: The Day After. Do you ever get tired of watching Kansas get nuked? Cuz my adolescent neuroses about nuclear war are always ready to be indulged...

THURSDAY 09.28

8:00PM: Beauty and the Beast. The 1946 Jean Cocteau flick. Oh, what a glorious film...

FRIDAY 09.29

8:00AM–4:00PM: Doctor Who. Okay, it’s not a movie, but it is an all-day marathon of Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor Who episodes, just before the U.S. premiere of David Tennant as the Doctor. (And yes, I am gonna finish my blogging on Eccleston’s Doctor, and start blogging on Tennant’s...)

SATURDAY 09.30

2:00PM: The Land That Time Forgot. Dinosaurs and Doug McClure.

SUNDAY 10.01

1:00AM: London After Midnight. Tod Browning’s 1927 silent flick about vampires and murder. Cool.

2:00AM: Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell. More vampires, this time via another planet, Japan, and 1968. Groovy.

I'm definitely geeked up for the new Dr. Who season coming on Sci-FI, but didn't know they were gonna show the Eccleston marathon .. thanks for the heads up!

I second that, I haven't seen any of the episodes yet, so am going to DVR the whole lot....pretty sweet
