The soundtrack for the new film No Reservations -- starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Aaron Eckhart, and Abigal Breslin -- was released on July 24. The recipe for this musical masterpiece starts with a generous helping of Italian arias performed by world-renowned tenor Pavorotti, Renata Telbaldi, Joan Sutherland, Carlo Bergozzi, and Joseph Calleja. Next, contemporary ingredients were added such as; Michael Buble, Liz Phair, Paolo Conte, & Ray Gelato. Finally, combine with original music by Oscar-winning composer, Philip Glass. The soundtrack for the new film The Bourne Ultimatum -- starring Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, Joan Allen, and David Strathairn -- was released on July 31. Composer John Powell (United 93, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Identity) once again scored original music for this latest installment in the Bourne series. A new version of Moby’s hit song “Extreme Ways,” which was the end-title song for the first two movies, is also featured. WINNERS: Alexa, Annette, Julie. (Buy the CD at Amazon.)
The original soundtrack to the classic Jim Henson fantasy adventure film The Dark Crystal was released on July 17 in a new edition commemorating the film’s 25th anniversary. The cult favorite features thrilling, wonderous music from composer Trevor Jones (The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, Notting Hill), who fashions an exquisite, lush orchestral score that brings all the awesome wonder of this beloved film.
