'Doctor Who' and 'Torchwood' blogging tomorrowI'm off to an all-day wedding celebration for my friend Lori, so no blogging today. But I did want to alert you to the debut of the Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood on BBC America tonight -- I'll be blogging about the show starting tomorrow, and every Sunday (or so) of its 13-episode run. I dunno how many cable companies are carrying the channel -- mine isn't, but I've been watching the episodes via the same secret source in England that channeled me Doctor Who before it aired here. I've seen the first six episodes so far, and: whoa. It's fantastic. More tomorrow... support

Avoid the BBC America broadcast if you have the choice as it's "edited for content" which will kill the flow and blunt the impact of any scenes which their censor deems to be too "adult" for us to handle. Much better to wait a week or so and see it uncut and in high def on HDnet, beginning 9/17.

I have to agree with Colin. BBCA is a glutton for editing all the shows they air and with Torchwood averaging about 48-50 minutes per episode (I have already seen the uncut version of the entire series), it will be cut. Add in the poor placement of the commercials and the ad graphics while the shows is airing, detracts from the viewer's pleasure. I too will wait for the HDnet episodes to start airing.

And, the Graham Norton episode following is the one with David Tennant that was on in about March in the UK.
It's available in chunks on YouTube...and it occurs to me now that'll probably be heavily bleeped.

I suspected that *Torchwood* would have to be edited for BBCA: it's got stronger language and sexuality than any commercial network here in the U.S. could stomach.

You're blogging about Torchwood too?! I could not love you anymore because OH MY GODS I'm so in love with Torchwood and Captain Jack and Ianto and Jack/Ianto and Tosh and Owen and I can even stand Gwen...sometimes.
My cable company doesn't carry BBC America (damn you Comcast) but I've seen them all too...YEAH secret sources. Especially considering how much editing would have to be done thanks to our puritan "standards" here.
