still no ‘Doctor Who’

I know, I know... Look, um, it’s an experiment, see. I’m, er, trying to see how long I can go without posting new Doctor Who and Torchwood stuff before the Doctor shows up in the TARDIS to bring me back in time so I can post stuff on time and change history and no one’s the wiser about what a slacker I’ve been.

No, actually, after my, ahem, lost Sunday, it’s just been a nutty-crazy week jammed packed with screenings. I’ll catch up. I will. I promise. I swear. I might get to Who today when I’m in between screenings -- I’ve got all my notes right here on the laptop, just need to sit down and drink some coffee to wake myself up and write up the damn thing...

You are thisclose to being viewed as the tin dog. :-/

Either post a review of School Reunion or post a link to your fanfic. Either way, entertain us! (shivers) Oh great I'm starting to suffer from withd... ack

Heh... nothing like a little withdrawal to make you realize how much you've been appreciating the blogging so far. So thanks. It's how I found my way here, actually.

Just out of curiosity, have you been following "The Sarah Jane Adventures" at all? Personally, I've liked it more than Torchwood so far. The last episode in particular was as good as the best I've seen on Who. (Well... Moffat excepted, but who can top him anyway?)

I look forward to the Doctor Who blogging and in the mean time I 'll go away and watch the Doctor Who Series 3 dvd with all its extras.

Well, "School Reunion" was the last episode of the second season that I've seen all the way through so I'm not going to say anything.

It was pretty good though my inner "Buffy" fan is still kicking me for not recognizing Anthony Stewart Head (who played Rupert Giles on "Buffy") until after the end credits.

On the other hand, the show did remind how much I used to really really love Elisabeth Sladen's Sarah Jane Smith character. She was the first companion I saw on the original series and her episodes hold up a lot better than I thought they would.

Plus the relationship issues it brings up was actually pretty well-done for a change.

But then I'm one of the few people on this forum who will actually admit to liking the Jackie Tyler character on the new series so maybe I just have a thing for older women...

I wish they'd bring back Romana (v2, played by Lalla Ward). She was definitely my favorite companion prior to Rose and Martha... love that schoolgirl's outfit from City of Death.

i actually preferred Romana v.1 as she was smarter, funnier and more commanding than Romana v.2... she more than held her own against the Doctor's high-handedness.

but, i'm assuming that Romana -- like the rest of the Time Lords -- (never mind, i feel a bit of fan fiction coming on...)

I wish they'd bring back Romana (v2, played by Lalla Ward).

Of course, Ward loved the Doctor so much she married Tom Baker after she left the show. :->

And then Ward and Baker got divorced...

But seriously, folks...

I must admit that I always preferred the first Romana to the second Romana for the reasons Bonnie-Ann Black mentions. The second Romana had her moments--especially in "City of Death"--but all too often I got the feeling she was playing Tara King to the first Romana's Emma Peel. (And I, ahem, hated Tara King.)

As for the current whereabouts of the Time Lords, well, that issue was already dealt with in the Christopher Eccleston episodes, right? Unless Russell Davies is planning yet another homage to "The Others" like we saw in that Charles Dickens episode...

I'm sure you've seen, but Doctor Who is up for a People's Choice Award this year (for Best Sci-Fi Television). How awesome would it be if they won? Every little bit of Stateside exposure helps. :)

And then Ward and Baker got divorced...

And now she's married to Richard Dawkins. How cool is that?
