watch it: “Superman & Batman: The Movie”

In I Am Legend, when Will Smith is driving around Times Square early in the film, you can see in the background a billboard that contains the logos of both Batman and Superman. Turns out that Warner Bros. -- which is also responsible for Legend -- has been kicking around the idea of getting these guys together in a movie for a while. If we’re to believe the prognostication of Legend, we should see the movie in 2009, the year the world went to shit for Will Smith.

While we wait, here’s the most professional-looking fan trailer for a movie I’ve come across yet:

Is it me, or does Lex Luthor sound like Matt Frewer?

Cool. Reminds me of Batman: Dead End and Grayson which are both worth a watch as well.

That was a fan trailer? Crazy!

That was awesome!

Everyone sounds like Matt Frewer. Sorta.

Matt Frewer: the voice that tastes like chicken.

...anywho, the idea of teaming Supes to Bats has been with us since the 1950s with the "World's Finest" series, which started off having Superman and Batman ministories in each issue, until the market downsizing due to a backlash (cough Seduction of teh Innocent cough) forced them to shrink the issues down to a single story. At that point a genius editor realized they should have team-up stories of the two characters. From this a 'comics universe' was forged that started up the pre-Crisis Silver Age era of DC comics. Although the series died out by the 1980s (due to the Crisis revamp of DC's Universe), the concept of Batman and Superman being "World's Finest" pops up in the canon from time to time... Considering that epic-sized comics movies are becoming the staple of summer blockbuster moviegoing, there's bound to be an attempt to have the two team up...

Still any word on if Joss Whedon is back on Wonder Woman?

Whedon is off Wonder Woman, as far as I know, and probably for good. In fact, Warner seems to have given up on the Wonder Woman solo movie altogether and instead will put her in the upcoming Justice League of America movie, where she will be portrayed by Australian supermodel Megan Gale if early word is to be believed. Gale looks the part, if nothing else, but her acting abilities are as of yet unknown.

Back to the original post, I did notice the Batman/Superman billboard in IAL. But did anyone else notice the "Teen Titans" movie poster in the background at the video store? It's like they're just inviting Internet speculation now.

Agreed on Luthor.

Jimmy Olson also looks/sounds a hell of a lot like Wil Wheaton.
