My thoughts *exactly* during last night's showing of "Titanic"! I've seen it over a hundred times and every time it is on TV, I can't turn it off and find something new to be fascinated by it.

It always makes me blubber at the end, too, when the camera pans past Rose's photos of the wonderful life she had because she met Jack. *sob*

My choke-up moment (yes, guys can have one, too) is at the very end, when the camera flies through the wreckage of the ship, the ship reverts to its former glory (perhaps in the afterlife, the Titanic sails endlessly?), and the young Rose reunites with Jack to everyone's applause. For me it's almost as powerful a moment as the Closure episode of The X-Files where Mulder gets a hug from the ghost of his sister in a field full of ghosts, while Moby's My Weakness plays.

Actually, I think the most moving part had nothing to do with the romance. It was the musicians giving their last concert. It's just incredibly touching to think, "If we're gonna die, at least let's die doing something we love."

There's LOTS of choke-you-up moments in the film...

for me, it's the part where the ship's designer (played by the amazing Victor Garber) changes the time on the clock. his sort of precise, quiet, fatalistic desire to have everything perfect in this most un-perfect moment is devestating.

It's been awhile since I've watched it. You guys are getting me in the mood. I don't have it on dvd, though, just vhs.
I can't watch it with my wife around. She doesn't need to see me blubbering.
