see ‘The Gates’ on HBO

Aw, crap, I meant to remind you earlier that the wonderful documentary The Gates -- which I reviewed when I saw it at the Tribeca Film Festival last spring -- debuted on HBO tonight at 10pm Eastern. Remember the orange flags that artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude covered Central Park in a couple years back? Those are the gates this is about, and it’s from legendary filmmaker Albert Maysles, and it’s a lovely valentine to New York and to the artists’ tenacity in getting their city-scaled work mounted. Check it out.

(And there’s still time to enter my giveaway to win a signed print of the gates from the artists.)
