Okay, so I named Beowulf the worst film of 2007. Here’s an example of CGI animation that recognizes the limitations of the medium and lets ambiance -- rather than an actor’s performance, which CGI cannot yet adequately convey -- express the subtle emotions we would expect from a fine performance:
