'Iron Man' tidbits
Iron Man rocks. I'll have a full review later in the week, but that's it in a nutshell.
Right now, I just want to give you an anti spoiler. Despite rumors to the contrary that have had fanboys drooling for months, Samuel L. Jackson does not appear as Nick Fury here (though a nascent S.H.I.E.L.D. is present). Sorry, guys.
Oh, but the flick does feature the best Stan Lee cameo ever, and also a cameo from Peter Billingsley, aka Ralphie from A Christmas Story, who's a producer of the film and part of the whole Jon Favreau-Vince Vaughn posse. No word on whether anyone shot his eye out, though you'd think the odds here would have been pretty high.

More likely that someone would get their entire head blown off than just an eye.
I know where I will be Friday night... first movie worth seeing in months.

I saw it too, and just one question about that Stan Lee cameo: in the credits, it says Stan Lee as "himself", but in the movie, he's addressed by a certain three-letter abbreviation of another pop culture icon's (who would be at a luxurious gala) last name. I thought that was awesome...but then the credits confused me. Illuminate me?
Also, I indeed agree: Iron Man rocks. It might not be the ultimate action movie, but to use Robert Downey Jr.'s words, it does provide the ultimate nerdgasm(s).

Nick Fury *does* appear in Iron Man, played by Samuel L Jackson. just not in the print you saw. Lying In the Gutters has the full story here: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=16195

Per that link, I find it very hard to believe that the premiere and press screenings would not be of the final print for distribution. If that's the case, then there's a larger issue at work than merely whether Fury is in the film.
Yeah, I'm not sure why then did that...

Wait, wait, don't tell me. I'm going to see it tomorrow for early release! Yeah!

He's there - you have to wait for all the credits to roll to see a short trailer with Nick Fury - SL Jackson.

Stan Lee was playing himself -- Tony Stark just misidentified him.

For Karon and everyone else who missed the other thread: I wrote about the post-credits Easter egg that was withheld from critics and premiere audiences here.
