*sigh*...there are no longer marriages like this. nowadays, five years is a long time to stay together...

again, with the generalizations. my parents met when they were very young and are still together through thick and thin. almost every friend or acquaintance of mine in their 30s and 40s have been married for 20 years and more. believing every statistic you come across regarding the current state of matrimony and relationships in trashy magazines can only cause your cynicism.

bronxbee, my parents were married for 15 years, too. it's just that i'm against relationships, on principle. in my view, they're doomed to end sooner or later, so why bother?
my grandparents (and one of my grandmother's brothers) were married until the day one of them died. and they loved each other till the end. i'm sorry, but there just AREN'T marriages like this anymore.
nowadays, a couple end a several-year relationship because of dirty dishes (true story! happened years before 'the breakup' was even made!)
so yeah, i'm disenchanted. and yeah, i believe the statistics. so sue me.
