I are edjumacationalI’m tickled to announce that my essay on how the movie 300 broke new ground with what CGI can do has been reprinted in a university textbook, Text Messaging: Reading and Writing About Popular Culture, by John Alberti. More than one angry commenter at this site has suggested that I don’t know my ass from my elbow, and to them I say: pffft, and watch out. Because now college students are studying my writing as the way to do it right, and some of them may end up reviewing movies on the Internet someday, too. My essay is still up at Film.com, if you haven’t read it, and it will be included in the upcoming book of my collected writings, which is tentatively called What the Flick? and will, I hope, be available this summer. I think you're reading too much into that whole "large moon" thing.

Congratulations! You're a great role model for wanna-be writers, and this site is a sanctuary of common sense and feminist geekery.

Just read the essay. I agree with you wholeheartedly and have, in fact, said similar things myself. Just not so sure it's a good thing.
