As one dork to another,
google says French for dork is "neuneu" Trust the French not to adopt a perfectly good English word.

however, when we were in a paris comic/science fiction store, we found out from the young man there who was helping us that the young geeks of paris use the word "geek" in exactly the same context as MaryAnn or i would use it. (i.e., descriptive compliment).
