Doc Horrible is coming! Doc Horrible is coming!

I love Joss Whedon. Really, I want to have his babies, and then make his babies write cool stuff.

Cuz it’s almost here: Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog launches next week. In his master plan, Whedon reveals what we can expect:

ACT ONE (Wheee!) will go up Tuesday July 15th.

ACT TWO (OMG!) will go up Thursday July 17th.

ACT THREE (Denouement!) will go up Saturday July 19th.

All acts will stay up until midnight Sunday July 20th. Then they will vanish into the night, like a phantom (but not THE Phantom – that’s still playing. Like, everywhere.)

I will be there, and I will be blogging about it.

Why would Whedon do this? He explains:

Once upon a time, all the writers in the forest got very mad with the Forest Kings and declared a work-stoppage. The forest creatures were all sad; the mushrooms did not dance, the elderberries gave no juice for the festival wines, and the Teamsters were kinda pissed. (They were very polite about it, though.) During this work-stoppage, many writers tried to form partnerships for outside funding to create new work that circumvented the Forest King system.

Frustrated with the lack of movement on that front, I finally decided to do something very ambitious, very exciting, very mid-life-crisisy. Aided only by everyone I had worked with, was related to or had ever met, I single-handedly created this unique little epic. A supervillain musical, of which, as we all know, there are far too few.

The idea was to make it on the fly, on the cheap – but to make it. To turn out a really thrilling, professionalish piece of entertainment specifically for the internet. To show how much could be done with very little. To show the world there is another way. To give the public (and in particular you guys) something for all your support and patience. And to make a lot of silly jokes. Actually, that sentence probably should have come first.

Have I mentioned that I love Whedon? Cuz, you know, I love him, for being a pioneer for this new Intarweb thingie. He totally rocks. Until our corporate, military-industrial-entertainment complex overlords lock him up at Guantanamo Bay. Until then, he rocks.

If you wanna have Joss Whedon's babies, you're gonna have to get in line!

I love Joss SO. MUCH. (I don't really want his babies. He's a bit old for me. But I want him to keep making stuff FOREVER AND EVER.)

Bring on Dr. Horrible!

Hey MAJ-

Didja ever get around to watching any of Buffy? Just curious-

I have not yet seen any more *Buffy* -- sorry.

Hokay. When I win the lottery I'm sending you the big ol' DVD collection of Buffy for your perusal :)

I am SO EXCITED about this! I only heard about it a couple of days ago... I am a sad excuse for a Joss Whedon fan.

Buffy is still the best show ever. (although my Doctor Who obsession is a bit obsess-y at the moment)

Well I've been trying to get on the Dr. Horrible site for over two and a half hours now and their server is too busy! I guess that means it's pretty popular. eh? I hope I get a chance to see it. I may do something a bit nutty like set my alarm for midnight and see it then. Makes me happy to live in a world that appreciates Joss so much. I'll just go watch Firefly to console myself.....
