shocking news: Adam Sandler hates movie critics

Spotted at the IMDB’s WENN:

Adam Sandler has blamed the media for influencing his box office ratings - because they never write good things about him.

The funnyman ignores critics who deliberately write bad reviews of his films but he is angry when their opinions influence the public.

But hasn’t Sandler heard that we critics don’t have any influence at all anymore?

(more below the ad... scroll down...)

please take my Blog Reader Project survey

He says, "You know what, I don't even believe half the things they say anymore - they've been writing bad stuff about me for a long time.

"I remember one time this lady came up to me and said 'I'm not gonna see your movie but my friend said it was good'.

"And I was like 'Ok why can't you see it again?' and she said, 'Oh I read that it wasn't very good' and I said, 'What about your friend' and she was like, 'Yeah she's not that smart'."

I’ve said it before: Sandler’s got the dumb demo covered. He should be glad -- it’s a huge demographic. And dumb people don’t read critics anyway.

Something he, Rob Schneider, and the makers of the Date/Scary/Epic/Disaster Movie series are surely thankful for!

As someone who has in fact enjoyed some Sandler films, I'd like to defend him for a moment.

But although I'd like to, I can't, because that's a fucking stupid statement.

Well, in *my* defense, I didn't say that *everyone* who likes Sandler is stupid.

I just implied that the dumb constitute the vast majority of his audience, that's all.

SHOCKING.

I'm actually trying to start a mini-protest, since the Disaster Movie and its franchise have been mentioned.

I'm telling everyone I know--don't go to see Disaster Movie on the weekend of the 29th (if you must at all). Go see another movie instead. The movie I'm suggesting? The Dark Knight.

My theory is that if enough people see TDK on Disaster Movie's opening weekend, resulting in a sudden surge of ticket sales, and TDK snatches the #1 spot away, which is simply too large a thing to hope for but I'm trying anyway, maybe the studios will get the message.

I mean, I don't even get why they release these shitpiles in theaters anyway. They make pathetic bank in theaters, except in relation to their budget, and far more of their revenue is from DVD sales and rentals. If they skipped the step of putting the movie in theaters, and said it was part of a "new business model", they'd probably end up making more profit.

So far, I've convinced...three people. :p

Movies released in theaters get more promotion than ones released straight to DVD. It's purely a mercenary decision to send stinkers to the multiplex: even if it doesn't screen for critics, the title gets in front of eyeballs in tons of ways that it wouldn't if it were released just on DVD.
