As seen in the Guardian: "I've just agreed to write a movie for Sony and producer Scott Rudin about how Facebook was invented," Sorkin wrote in his introduction on the group page. How awesome must it be to be Aaron Sorkin? You can approach a multibillion-dollar corporation and say, “Hey, I don’t know a damn thing about this stuff, but I’d like to make a movie about it,” and they throw money at you. Amazing. support

I think it would be even more awesome to be like Aaron Sorkin in that regard but without the cocaine addiction and tendency to rip on ex-girlfriends by writing them into your shows.

This seems like a terrible idea. Not just because Sorkin is ignorant of Facebook, but because of his long-standing hatred and disdain of all things Internet. He has repeatedly dismissed the internet as nothing but a bunch of stupid, ignorant, crazy, obnoxious jerks in mumus, chain smoking Parliaments. And that last bit about the mumus and Parliaments is directly from a script of the West Wing.
Look, I LOVED the West Wing, I have every season on DVD and I think the man is a genius. But he's also a real dick in some ways, and his record of hating any opinions of independent writers who post on the internet in ANY way (blog, comment thread, whatever) means that I expect this movie to be all about him sneering and being derisive. He takes being a Luddite to new lows.

I hear that, Chris. I was massively disappointed by 'Studio 60'. What's more alarming about this project, however, is that while I believe that Sorkin actually likes and admires things like Saturday Night Live (and has an affinity for comedy in general), he certainly has made clear his disdain for anyone who uses the internet for pretty much any kind of social discourse.
With 'Studio', he was just being sloppy and not understanding his material nearly as well as he thought. With this Myspace project, I can't imagine his ignorance combined with that kind of disdain will equal anything but disaster.
