the oh-no! DVD of the week: ‘Puppy Plays the Classics’
WTF?
Introduce your child to classical music from a puppy’s point of view! Meet Ollie, the irresistibly cute pup who always sniffs out adventure. In the first of the series, PUPPY PLAYS THE CLASSICS, Ollie and his puppy friends take viewers on a fantastic journey inspired by classical music, all while learning valuable life lessons. With an exciting score of classical favorites by MOZART, TCHAIKOVSKY, SCHUBERT, WAGNER and more!
I never realized puppies had a point of view on classical music. And I prefer my valuable life lessons-cum-classical music cues from Bugs Bunny.
If I am not mistaken, that picture has a music sheet torn in shreds under the puppy. That's what a real puppy would do...
"Watch an adorable puppy piss all over your sheet music and turn it into confetti, all while learning valuable life lessons (like, don't let puppies play with your sheet music!)"
A satisfied customer on amazon, who calls herself Shopaholic, writes that her two children and her terrier Penny love the DVD. It also is considered helpful for dealing with the doggie's separation anxiety issues (I kid you not).
As a classical music buff who looks forward to the Puppy Bowl every year (also the Puppy Games were awesome) I have to say I'm skeptical; but if they use the real classical music rather than the watered down synthesizer-y crap that passes for kids klassics these days, I would maybe think about getting that for my future nieces and/or nephews.
(my own dog, however, would refuse to endorse anything that might contain Bach. She loves my cello practicing so long as I'm not doing the 1st Suite.)
Yea, I just play my CD's and the local classical station. Always have. The munchkin (who's 11 now) picks out tunes (like the Hallelujah Chorus) on the piano. No fuzzy little puppy needed.

Of course. I shall blog about it on a minute-by-minute basis.
I'll warn you now, though: That puppy is total shit. Terribly miscast.
