trailer break: ‘Bangkok Dangerous’

Take a break from work: watch a movie trailer...

Aw, it’s the loneliness of the international hitman. I’m expecting a poignant, pathos-laden tale of how the doers of morally questionable deeds find themselves in gray maelstroms of doubt, guilt, and interpersonal isolation. Well, that, or an adrenline-fueled heart-pumping brain-thumping orgy of nonstop ultraviolence.

From what I remember of the Thai movie of the same name (and from the same filmmakers), this remake bears little resemblance to the original, which could be good or bad, but something tells me it will deviate in the wrong direction.

Bangkok Dangerous opens wide September 5.

I'll always give an action flick the benefit of the doubt... I'm not sure why, when so often I am horribly disappointed by them.

Like, why do they gotta be so convoluted, for one? Just have an ex-cop / special forces / black ops guy get his wife / son / uncle killed, and then go get some sweet revenge / break some wrists / kick some guys through some plate glass windows. Yeah, it's been done, but it never gets old.

That'd be a good name for an action movie: Never Gets Old... starring Steven Seagal as an ex-green beret turned nursing home janitor. They killed his pep pep, and now they must pay.

This looks bad ass
