Wow, that great old lady made my eyes water...I've been having sort of a "what the hell am I doing with my life*?!" crisis lately...listening to her, she's so right.
*answer: I'm not doing what I really want to, that's for sure! :)
Happy [belated] Birthday, MaryAnn.
I'll be saying goodbye to the thirties in a couple of months, myself; all things considered, 39 was a good year. I wish you the best for yours.
I was at press events and screenings all day. Which ain't bad at all, actually: 10 years ago I don't think I'd have imagined I could be spending my birthday working at something I love.
MA: I knew you turned 39 yesterday. I myself turned 40 last month. I thought for a while that I might do the Jack Benny thing and always claim to be 39, but since 40 is the new 21, I decided not to. :-)

You know what, Clayj? I am SO not one of those women who pretends she's any age other than she is. I am 39 today, and happy to be so.

Happy belated birthday, MaryAnn.
Don't worry. The 40s aren't as bad as you think.
(But then my best friend is in her fifties, so I'm biast.)
Oh, well. As Maurice Chevalier once said, it beats the alternative.

I'm not expecting my 40s to be bad at all.

Well, in that case, please feel free to ignore whatI said earlier. Apart from the "happy birthday" part, of course.
