my week at the movies: nothingDidn’t I mention? I’m in England through the end of the week. Though if the world economy keeps crashing, I might get stuck here if British Airways can’t scrape together the money to buy jet fuel. Which wouldn’t be too bad. I’d be herded into a refugee camp right outta Children of Men, of course, but the tea would be good. As long as they can float the leaves over on a boat, at least. After that, I’ll start leading riots. Assuming the debut of Great Depression II is slo-mo and I do get home, I’m gonna have some catching up to do. While I’m gone I’m missing screenings of Religulous (which I’m psyched for), opening on October 1, and An American Carol (which I’ve written about before) and Flash of Genius (I want to give Greg Kinnear a chance to make it up to me), both opening October 3. And I hope I’m not going to miss any last-minute screenings of Body of Lies (just cuz it’s Russell Crowe and Leonardo Dicaprio) and RocknRolla, both opening October 10. That’s assuming anyone has the money to pay for the power to run a projector, of course. Disqus commentsblog comments powered by Disqus |

Who and the what now? I clicked over here from my trusty RSS reader and suddenly this page starts playing the audio from what sounds like a documentary about some cantilever bridge in NYC. Like the photo of Ken Burns in the left-hand column ad had come to life and started yelling at me about what "cantilever" means. Yet I see nowhere on the page that the audio could be coming from nor did I start it up on purpose. And I KNOW what "cantilever" means, Ken. Leave me alone!

I think the audio must have come from somewhere else. Those blogads don't do audio.

I swear to god, I closed windows methodically to find out where it was coming from, and it went off the moment I closed this page. Ah well, it will remain a mystery.

Hmm. The ad's gone now, so I can't check it out. If it did indeed come from this site, I apologize: I hate those obnoxious audio ads too.
