watch it: “The Gloaming”

Brilliant! Utterly brilliant.

This is like a stop-motion film featuring people instead of puppets. The rendering of the movements here is so odd and compelling. I would gladly watch a feature film in this style. For once, my heart was pounding while watching this short. It's everything The Ring should have been with a little Being John Malkovich thrown in for good measure. I hope Andy Huang takes the initiative and makes an independent horror film in this vein. I stress on independent. A studio film would only bungle it up.
