watch it: “The Job”

As Jon Stewart might say, Oh, snap:

If I don’t find some way to laugh about this disaster, I’m gonna lose it. And I might lose it anyway.

Dear older generations. Thank you for screwing us. Also thanks for giving us a lousy education, which means my generation and younger generations will have a difficult time correcting everything you messed up. But good news, your guns are still protected and the gays still can't get married. All is well!

Yours Truly,

A 20-something

For a couple of years now I've had a morbid fascination with doom-mongering economic websites as they warned of precisely the kind of disaster that's now unfolding. For a long time I wasn't sure if the contributors to them were cranks. Now I regard them as visionaries.

Peter Schiff has called things pretty accurately, as has Max Keiser, an American in Paris who comments on economics for the Al Jazeera English network. It's also worth checking out Karl Denninger and his YouTube channel.

These guys are talking seriously about the possible collapse of the dollar and a hyperinflationary depression. The consensus seems to be: buy gold and silver to protect yourself, if you can.

I have a stash of canned goods. I think that's as good as it's gonna get for me.

As is often the case, the truth can be found in the blogosphere rather than the mainstream press. Looks like your country is about to be stolen from you by the banksters.

Some of us are well aware of this, Proper Dave. And we're terrified.

I know I was joking around yesterday, but after reading those links you guys have provided, it's just not funny. This is scary sh*t, and we can't do a damn thing about it. You're telling me that we're trying to fix 9 years of greed caused by deregulation by putting our treasury in the hands of a financial "king" with no over sight at all? Wasn't this lack of oversight a problem in the first place? Wow. We're screwed. I feel like I just walked right into Cormac McCarthy's, "The Road."

"But you must speak Java"

Ahahahahahahaaha.

Stopped clock, though. Yes, he saw the crash coming - as did many observers who aren't rabid Libertarian conspiracy theorists.
