trailer break: ‘Fuel’

Take a break from work: watch a movie trailer...

There’s been a lot of films like this one over the last few years, and I’m feeling a bit worn out by them. Not by what they’re saying -- we’re addicted to oil; it’s unhealthy for our culture, our environment, our economy, and our national security; we can kick the habit but it means we have to be tough minded and innovative and clever and willing to work at it. I agree with all that. I’m exhausted that the message doesn’t seem to be getting through.

But then again, I’m actually seeing all these films -- most people aren’t, because they play in tiny arthouses on minimal schedules, or on cable channels that no one watches. I haven’t seen this one, but I’d like to, if it gets around to my neck of the woods, because I keep hoping, with each new installment in this ongoing saga, that this one will be the one that finally strikes a chord and wakes people up.

Don’t drive your car to get to this one. Use mass transit, for pity’s sake.

Fuel (also known as Fields of Fuel) opens today in limited release in the U.S. (see rollout schedule below); no U.K. release has been announced.

rollout schedule
November 14-20 – Portland, OR
November 21-27 – Seattle, WA
November 21 – Austin, TX
December 5-11 – Bend, OR

Austin. Portland. Seattle. *snort* Buncha hippies. Whadda they know about the proper manliness that comes with burning oil unnecessarily...
